Heading and Arriving Home!
Alas, packing and last room views...
Always time for one more gelato!
And as we finish the 24 hours of travel logistics, which many of you are overly familiar with..arriving safely home at 10:30 pm, we were treated with a spectacular view ...

| Great bridges of San Francisco! |

Actually, the plane landed at 7:45, which is why is wasn't dark yet! We had stunning views of the city for many minutes so it was great to actually get photographic evidence! Also, our darling daughter picked us up at the SF airport after breezing through customs thanks to global entry!
ReplyDeleteAll in all, a GREAT vacation!
Overall for this trip we decided the best place to stay and one we would always come back to: Palas Cerequio in La Morra, although Auberge de la maison at Mont Blanc was totally awesome, and Como is always on the radar.
ReplyDeleteBest breakfast? Palas Cerequio with a definite thumbs up to Hisa Franco (what else would you expect from a top rated restaurant), thumbs up to Como (VIEW!), and honestly.... every place had some distinguisher that made it unforgettable! Marla's bread, pastries, jams; Due Papaveri for it's awesome views, yogurts, and wholesomeness (but for a coffee drinker, NOT the best); pension Berc one of the best cappuccinos and an excellent spread; Enoteca also a beautiful spread of fruits, bread, meat and cheese on the table, good cappuccino; and the Auberge also had great cheese, meat, breads, yogurts, sweets.
And the best dinner bites? The Enoteca della Valpolicella! The pasta, the meats, the soup, the desserts .... yikes! A++
But! I must say... pizza with Fabrizio? Unequalled!
Bovio in La Morra? We go every time! Plus dinner at the Palas is a must do!
Carlotta's very fine dinners on the patio over looking the valley outside of Modena? Superb! (Plus she gifted me her cookbook!)
Pension Berc? I ate too much, what does that tell you?
I will "never" (never say never, right?)go to Como and eat anywhere else but with Ty and his unique take on all foods of his area!
And of course, at the Auberge de la Maison, where we feasted excellently every night we were there!
And last but certainly not the least, I must mention that I am overwhelmingly blessed by God to be able to do this with the love of my life, Gary! He IS the most perfect traveling companion for me. His planning, driving, and care for me are always beyond words. And for that I am so grateful to him and the LORD! Hallelujah and amen!
One more thing... I MUST give a huge shout out to the Bella Baita (Marla and Fabrizio). We decided it IS the perfect place to jet lag .... the room (dark and cool for a perfect sleep), the reception (food drink friends), and just the general ambience of the setting, make it great for a first stop!
ReplyDeleteDid I mention I love my husband for taking me on these wonderful vacations?
