Paola set out a nice breakfast for our 7:30 departure... it's always sad to leave our home away from home... we do love the relaxing, the view, quality people and amazing food. . All at a reasonable price.

| Photo bombing in action! |
After goodbyes at the Malpensa Milan airport, Peggy and I drove to the Aosta Valley to take the gondola to the top of Pila.
An arresting sculpture of the cross of Christ meets you when you disembark. Wow... even having seen it a few years ago, it's very impactful.
 |
| Amazing witness to the World! |
Peggy hiked while I rested at the panoramic restaurant where the food last visit blew our mind. They repeated the mind blowing on this visit, even for this light lunch.
 |
| Prosciutto and melon for days! |
 |
| Juicy, and thankfully, splittable! |
Stunning views everywhere...
 |
| Looking East... |
 |
| Looking North! |

| Looking Down! |
A 45 minute drive to the actual base of Mont Blanc... in Italian, it's Monte Bianco... where for the next 4 nights, including our 492 month anniversary (41 years) we will be at home in the Auberge de la Maison in Courmeyer, Italy....
After arriving and being shown our room, we were thrilled that our balcony had a direct view of Mont Blanc to our left and just as stunning Alps to our right. Not visible in the photos, huge glaciers with waterfalls everywhere cascade from them all.

| Lost in the View to the left! |
 |
| Looking right is hard, but still beautiful! |
wow...wow...wow...wow...
ReplyDeleteCrushing it every part of the way! Well done, sir!
My hike at Pila was indescribably beautiful! I went up to a small knoll where I had a panoramic view of the entire range of mountains!
ReplyDeleteElva: "It almost doesn't look real because it's so beautiful."
ReplyDeleteBTW, Alberghetto di Mariana ON the lago di Como gets the big thumbs up as usual! We will return!
ReplyDeleteAnd the great hikes in the Val D'Aoste warrant a return visit for sure!
